Five misfit friends scramble to save their Gay Straight Alliance from an unsympathetic principal while struggling to face the highs and lows of being queer in high school.
After an outburst based around Shakespeare's EXTREME GAYNESS sends them to the office, they're forced to recruit the school’s heterosexual population to save their club. Selling themselves out as “gay best friends” to the school’s population, they learn about love, pride, and ultimately, how to be (or not to be) Hetero.
"Nine months of pre-production. Two months of Zoom rehearsals. We filmed in the blistering heat of the summer and the COVID-19 pandemic."
The five-part miniseries filmed in July and August 2020 for 27 shooting days in the Seattle region. Multiple crew members were designated as COVID safety officers which helped us ensure the production practices were in line with Washington Filmworks' COVID-19 Safety Plan. Thankfully, there were no incidents of COVID-19 associated with the production.
